A few weeks ago, Nathan and I volunteered to photograph the Tails at Twilight Gala which benefits the Animal Protection Society of Durham. The Tails at Twilight Gala is a night were the staff and volunteers dress to impress! After all, this is an important event. The Gala is one of the largest fundraisers for the APS each year.
For as long as I can remember, the Tails an Twilight Gala has been held at the Washington Duke Inn. It is such a fabulous place to have an event. The staff is incredible, the food is top notch, and the space accommodates everything perfectly.
The Gala is a great place to find many one-of-a-kind items. Local artists, jewelers and businesses donate amazing art work and items for the silent auction. Are you a Duke fan? This year’s items included football gear autographed by head coach David Cutcliffe as well as a pair Duke basketball tickets, for prime seats, to any ACC game of the winners choice.
Whenever we are photographing people we know, Nathan goes out of his way to photobomb at least one photo. He’s lucky Taylor is a good sport.
I can’t begin to tell you how fabulous this group of people is. Not only are they and their companies supporters of the APS, but they all run classy businesses. Charles is with NFM Mortgage Lending, Taylor is with Five Star Painting and Christine is with Go Realty.
They all also know how to have a good time!
Our wonderful host for the evening, Mary Kaymart.
Our incredible shelter manager, Shafonda, kicked off our live auction with a heartfelt speech. Shafonda is such an inspiring woman! She is compassionate, dedicated and a great mom to her three kids and all the animals that come into the APS of Durham. We are so lucky to have her!
Let the bidding begin!
What a night it was! Auctions were won, bidding wars were settled (including our live auction photo package, which went up to $1700!) and good times were had by all. Most importantly, the Gala was a huge success for the animals of the APS of Durham! We would like to thank everyone who came out to support such a great cause. We hope to see you all there next year!
