It is with pleasure that I introduce everyone to the amazing staff of Clarke Equine Wellness and Performance. CEWP is a family-owned equine veterinary practice in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. You could say I am a little biased—Mitchell and Alison (in the center of the above photo) are my in-laws. However, the practice has been in operation since the late 80s and they are revered in the local horse community.
On a recent visit to their family farm, I was asked to take some photos of the practice. An afternoon photographing family and horses? How could I refuse?
“Hay everyone! There are horses on the blog today!”
I smile every time I look at this photo. Nathan’s love for animals is one of my favorite things about him. It’s so sweet.
I love visiting the farm. The grounds are beautiful and there is so much wildlife. It is so peaceful and relaxing.
Alison has been working with horses for decades. Her love for and connection with them is easy to see in this photo.
Running your own business is challenging, but the Rodes have spent nearly 30 years building a great reputation through their dedication and care for the horses and families around Clarke County, VA. Seeing the incredible work they do is inspiring. I may also be a little jealous that their everyday work involves animals and is in such a beautiful setting. I guess that just means we’ll have to visit more!
