2015 Walk for the Animals

Welcome to the 2015 Walk for the Animals! We love being a part of this event, which benefits an organization very near and dear to our hearts, The Animal Protection Society of Durham. The APS of Durham is a wonderful organization that cares for more than 7,000 sick, abused and homeless animals in our community every year. Four of our six “kids” have come to us through the work of the APS of Durham. As you can imagine, we jump at the opportunity to lend a hand. One such way is documenting the Walk for the Animals.

The Walk for the Animals has become one of the biggest yearly fundraisers for the APS of Durham. Come out to one and it’s easy to see why. People and pets from all over the area pack Duke University’s East Campus for the festivities. Groups spend months fundraising. Dogs prepare and practice for the agility races, kissing contests and water games. It really is an exciting day for everyone.

Everyone is welcomed, even cats and ponies!

None of this would be possible without the incredible efforts of the APS of Durham staff and volunteers. Super heroes!

For many years, the kids’ zone was run by our wonderful friend, Christine Danko. She passed away last year, but her legacy and work lives on through the people she loved and impacted.

Got to look your best!

And we’re off!
