I love my job! It’s true. For half of the year, I get to travel around the country covering the top prospects in baseball. Yeah, that’s part of my job. Crazy, huh?
There is another aspect of my business, however, that brings me even more joy and excitement. That’s highlighting the wonderful things that athletes and those in the sports industry are doing to change lives and impact their communities. Many of you have seen my blog posts about Vs. Cancer and the incredible work their athletes are doing to help those with childhood cancer. Today’s blog post is to highlight another incredible organization: Turn Two Baseball.
Turn Two Baseball is the brain child of my good friend Alexis Brudnicki. Alexis works for the Blue Jays and is a featured writer for the Canadian Baseball Network. She is a true ambassador to the game, and if you don’t follow her, you should (Twitter: @baseballexis)!
Last year, Alexis sent out a request for used gear donations to help a youth league get the equipment it’s players needed to play ball. The response was overwhelming! From there, Turn Two Baseball was formed. It’s mission is to give used equipment a double play; to provide children across Canada with the baseball basics for the season.
Of course, we were more than happy to help provide photo and video work for Turn Two Baseball. Soon, you’ll see these photos and a lot more great stuff on their website: Turn Two Baseball.
There is just something so nostalgic about baseball photos in black and white.
When you cover baseball and see the incredible facilities available to amateur athletes, it can be hard to remember that there are many kids out there who don’t have the means or opportunity to play baseball. Through Alexis’ work, Turn Two Baseball has become an international effort to change that. She’s pretty incredible!
Turn Two Baseball is helping bring the game of baseball to those who might not otherwise get to play. It’s an incredible organization doing incredible work.
If you have old gear that you no longer use, please consider making a donation to Turn Two Baseball. You can email Alexis at brudnickialexis@gmail.com for all the details. If you are in the United States and have used gear you would like to donate, please feel free to contact me at alyson@alycatphotos.com.
