Simple and elegant. That is how I would describe Keisha and Derrick’s summer wedding. There was no dancing, no bouquet toss. It was simply a beautiful family gathering filled with love, laughs and toasts.
Family was at the heart of my pre-wedding discussions with Keisha. The ceremony would be in a church that their family had been going to for many years. The reception, held at the Durham Arts Council, would be enjoyable but simple, allowing the families to get together and spend time with each other.
There was a whole lot of laughing that evening. As a photographer, I love it. Not only does it help people feel more comfortable around the camera, but the pictures come out so natural. You see the people in the photograph as they really are. They are normally among my favorites photos from a shoot.
There was also a lot of this.
Mr. and Mrs. Davis!
Their reception was held at the lovely Durham Arts Council. If you have not visited it yet, I encourage you to. It is beautiful.
This was one of my favorite photos from that night. What a beautiful couple!
Keisha was a gorgeous bride! Doesn’t she just beam off the page?
At most weddings, the Maid of Honor and the Best Man give speeches. This was probably what Keisha and Derrick planned on. Their families had other plans. One by one, people got up to toast to the couple, telling stories and sharing a few laughs as they did.
Keisha and Derrick, thank you so much for letting us be a part of your special day. We wish you many years of continued happiness and laughter.
