This wonderful, silly girl is Birdie. She is our second Face of the APS animal for the 2020 year. Her family tied for the highest bid during the live auction event at the Tails at Twilight Gala last November. All the proceeds from the Gala went directly toward enhancing the lives of the five thousand animals the Animal Protection Society of Durham takes care of each year.
Birdie is a black pit mix. Both characteristics are commonly referred to as strikes that prevent a dog from getting adopted. It was the family’s goal to inspire others to adopt those wonderful, often overlooked dogs. Birdie is an incredible ambassador for rescued animals and a perfect example of how color and breed are not what makes a dog. She is lovable, fun and just all around goofy.
