Born To Be A VandyBoy

Over the years, I have covered many great high school ballplayers. Kids with awesome personalities, wonderful families and bright futures. Donny Everett was one of those kids. He was a polite kid, friendly and one heck of a pitcher. It was no surprise that schools like Vanderbilt recruited him.

Last year, right before Vanderbilt was to host the first round of regional playoffs, Donny was killed in a tragic accident. The loss of someone so young and promising hit the team and all those involved in college baseball hard. Baseball America just released an incredibly written story by Mike Lananna on the life and impact of Donny on the Vandy baseball program. As someone who covered Donny in high school, I was honored and humbled to visit Vanderbilt and photograph the team’s tribute to their friend and teammate. I encourage you to read Mike’s story.

A tattoo on the wrist of pitcher Colin Snider.

Donny was born to be a Vandyboy. He will always be remembered as that.
